Quebec artist Devon Reid selected to exhibit two paintings at the Louvre in Paris, France.

Candiac, Québec November 2013 - Candiac artist Devon Reid has been selected to have her work exhibited at the December 2013 Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts (SBNA) annual show at the Louvre in Paris, France.  Reid is part of a delegation of just 20 artists representing Quebec and Canada at this prestigious international art exhibition to be held from December 12th to 15th at the Louvre.

Two of Reid’s paintings were selected: ‘Distance’ and ‘La Chute’ (both 17” x 23” acrylic on paper) from a recent series ‘Transition.’ It is standard practice to only select one painting from each artist which speaks to the exceptional quality and dept of Reid’s work.

“I’m very excited to have my work be selected and to be part of such a wonderful event. Of course it’s a dream come true for any artist to have their work shown at the Louvre and I feel very fortunate to be part of this exhibit with such talented emerging and established Canadian artists. I hope that it will help to further support local culture and arts in Montreal and especially on the South Shore.”

Created by Rodin 152 years ago, the Société des Beaux Arts welcomed artists who were considered too avant-garde by the Académie des Beaux Arts. For nearly 40 years, the National Society of Fine Arts has organized a contemporary arts exhibition to exemplify all the richness and variety within the world of the arts. This prestigious annual event brings together selected artist delegations from many countries such as Canada, Brazil, Korea, Spain, Hungary, Switzerland, Japan and Turkey.

Devon Reid was born in Montreal, Quebec (1969).   She lived and worked in Amsterdam, the Netherlands for over 15 years.  In Amsterdam, she was mentored by artist Hanneke Somer for four years and worked at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague where she developed a program for personal leadership.   She has exhibited in the Netherlands, Belgium and Canada.

After living and travelling abroad for 20 years Devon returned home in 2011 “for the landscape and for love”.  She currently lives in Candiac, Québec with her partner Pierre and stepchildren Sidney, Mathis and Sacha.
